Franco Meloni

Born in Cagliari, Italy, Franco Meloni is a self-taught artist from Sardinia. Working in acrylic tempera oil pastels and clay, Meloni's art work is often defined as "Outsider Art." He expresses what he feels without rules, giving vent to his fantasies.

Meloni prefers to depict the negative "other side" of oneself which normally is withheld. He is fascinated by imperfection, because it belongs to all of us. He finds that he is often searching for both graphic sign and figurative defects in his work.

Meloni paints dreams that come directly from his unconscious. He sees his past, his present, and future inside his own artistic vision. His paintings and sculptures radiate life and passion through intensive color. He paints to know himself and better understand his own life.
